The  GX 1400 e is a VHF DSC  receiver  Cl ass D , with 70 separate channels. When the  DSC DISTRESS function is activated   

 the device emits a digital  MAYDAY  distress signal which contains the identity of the vessel, its position expressed

in Latitude / Latitude & Time (if connected via  GPS ).
