The transmission and display of accurate surface wind data are essential elements in the provision of meteorological information for air traffic services.
Designed to meet ICAO requirements, the SW2000 Surface Wind Measurement System will operate with up to four wind sensor sites. Each wind sensor output is transmitted via an Intelligent Sensor Unit (ISU) by a two wire data distribution network to display units in the airport control rooms.
All sensor outputs are quality controlled using software developed by the UK Met. Office to ensure validated data is presented to the displays.
All primary units are fitted with anti-surge devices to offer protection against lightning induced damage.
