BG20 SYSTEM

Specifically designed to be used by all three armed services worldwide.

The BG20 has been specifically designed to modernise and improve the inspection routines of large calibre barrels. A two-point measuring head is supported in the barrel or chamber by a clear disc which facilitates the angular alignment of the head and the location of a suspected defect.

The gauge may be introduced into the breech or muzzle end of the barrel and the measuring head located anywhere along its length. The measuring process can be effected in minutes.

The operating software of the gauge provides the flexibility to automate existing in service measurement routines or to accommodate specific defect investigations such as barrel bulging or ovaling.

System BG20 is provided in a rugged carrying case affording protection, storage and ease of transportation.

CALIBRATION

The BG20 system is initially calibrated against a removable gauge (supplied), of known dimension, to provide the system with an accurate known reference bore.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MEASUREMENT

The sensing head may then be introduced into the barrel from either breech or muzzle to the desired measurement position. The head is then rotated using the indexing handle to measure in the desired axis and a measurement taken by squeezing the trigger on the hand-held electronics unit. The operator may select the gauge to operate in either a normal or ovality mode. The gauge automatically calculates the average bore diameter in the normal mode and the maximum out-of-roundness value in the ovality mode. The BG20 system can measure either lands or grooves of a large calibre rifled barrel. All dimensions taken may be observed on the instrumentís display panel and are stored in the BG20 system memory under the operator defined barrel identification number.

Measurement data obtained may be downloaded by connecting the system directly to a miniature thermal printer for an instant hard copy printout, or transferred to the PC based BG20 Software Analysis package.
